DAY 2 - RIVIERA DEL CONERO and LORETO

Arrival with intercontinental flight into Rome airport. Transfer to hotel in Ancona.
In the evening explore the city with a sightseeing tour through its highlights of the historical center, you can see: Mole Vanvitelliana, Merchants Loggia, Santa Maria della Piazza Church, Papa Square, 13 Cannelle Foutain, San Ciriaco Cathedral, beautiful Romanesque church overlooking the harbor and the city.

Following breakfast, depart to the wonderful Riviera del Conero, a cliff overlooking the sea which creates an incredible natural landscape. Visit the small villages of Portonovo and Sirolo and then arrive in Recanati famous for the great Italian writer and poet Giacomo Leopardi. Here you can visit, with your local guide, the Leopardi House, Borgo, the Theatre Persians.
In the afternoon continue your tour and arrive in the religious city of Loreto, the “Holy City”. Visit to the Sanctuary of the Holy House, one of the most famous Sanctuaries dedicated to Virgin Mary. According to devout tradition, Angels carried the house of the Virgin from Nazareth to Loreto.

Following breakfast depart to Pescara in Abruzzo region. On the road, enjoy a guided visit of Macerata, beginning at Sferisterio, theatrical structure unique in its architectural genre, then continuing with Cathedral of San Giuliano, the Basilica of Mercy and Freedom Square.
Another stop is in Ascoli Piceno and visit by your own the historical center with the Basilica, Piazza del Popolo.
In the afternoon arrive in Pescara, check in at your hotel.
Relax yourself and meet the culinary excellence of the region with a delicious wine tasting accompanied by local products in a historical winery near Pescara.

After breakfast, enjoy an excursion through the villages of the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga. Stop at Castel del Monte to visit the fortified village located on the southern slope of the Gran Sasso. Continue to S. Stefano di Sessanio, ancient rule of the Medici, and considered among the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy. Stop for a short visit to the medieval village, the crenellated tower and the parish church of St. Stephen.
In the afternoon short stop in another enchanting medieval village near Pescara, Penne. The village you can easily visit on foot along the main street of Corso dei Vestini, on the road and entering in the narrow streets of the historic center we find monuments, churches and extremely fascinating views.
Then arrive in Chieti, the ancient Roman Teate, is a city of great splendor.

Optional visit to the National Museum of Antiquities which houses the most important archaeological collection of Abruzzo.

Guided tour of the old town and especially the elegant Corso Marruccino, the Cathedral of St. Justin and the Baths and Roman Temples.

After breakfast at hotel, start with your local guide an excursion to Sulmona, a wonderful town with ancient origins and birthplace of Ovid, the father of the Latin language. Walk through the historic center where you can admire the Basilica of S. Panfilo or the complex of SS. Annunziata.
In the afternoon visit Scanno, where you can arrive through a unique landscape characterized by the suggestive "Gorges of Sagittarius", included in the list of most beautiful villages of Italy. In this lovely city it seems as if time has stopped, you can see the old ladies with their traditional clothing and watch the goldsmiths in the manufacture of filigree jewelry.

After breakfast, depart to Isernia in Molise region. Check in at your hotel and in the afternoon discover to the main monuments of the city and transfer to the "Pineta" to visit the "Village" and the Paleolithic "Homo Aeserniensis" museum that preserves the remains of the prehistoric village of the first European men.

Following breakfast, arrive in Venafro, ancient Venafrum Sannitica whose foundation is attributed to Diomedes. Visit to the main monuments of the historic center and the Archaeological Museum. Before returning to the hotel, arrive in a local winery where you can walk through the vineyards, discover the cultivation and pruning techniques and at the end taste various wines with appetizers based on typical products.
