DAY 2 - BOLOGNA

Arrival in Bologna International Airport, transfer to your hotel.
First overview of the historic center with your local guide, you can admire: Accurso Palace, Podestà Palace, Sala Borsa, Medieval Market, San Petronio Cathedral, Saint Stefano Complex and Nettuno Fontain dating back to 16th century.

In this day explore deeper the beautiful town of Bologna. Outside mass tourism, Bologna is a medieval city that offers visitors many monuments and important churches. Under its elegant arcades discover Anatomic Theatre, the Two Towers, San Domenico Cathedral, University area and enter into the Pinacoteca Nazionale, which houses one of the most important Italian museum collections.
In the afternoon depart to the gentle hills around Bologna to visit the majestic Shrine of Our Lady of San Luca. This great Marian shrine is located on the Colle della Guardia (a partially forested promontory) and it's very important in the Bologna history considering that, since its origins, is an important pilgrimage site to venerate the icon of the Virgin with a child called San Luca.
When the visit to shrine ends, stay a little bit more on Bologna hills to discover its prestigious wines in a historic winery. Visit winery and vineyard, then enjoy a wine tasting accompanied by a series of tastings of typical products.

DAY  3 - FERRARA and COMACCHIO (Po Delta Tour)
  DAY  4 - RAVENNA

Following breakfast, depart to Ferrara that was included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO as "an amazing city planned in the Renaissance and which has preserved its urban fabric practically intact." Surrounded by a wall, the most beautiful monuments of the city are:

  • Palazzo dei Diamanti, a jewel of Italian architecture of the 15th century
  • Castello Estense, the true symbol of the city where you can enter for a guided visit
  • Catredal, an impressive example of religious architecture that blends Romanesque and Gothic features
  • Jewish Ghetto, proof of the presence of the oldest and most numerous Jewish communities in Italy

In the afternoon arrive in Comacchio for a walking tour of the city of bridges, also known as “Little Venice”. Then enjoy a boat ride to cross the main branches of the great delta of the River Po, in contact with the virgin nature of the natural park, you can see breathtaking views.

This day is full dedicated to visit the little jewel of this region, Ravenna.
Visit its historic center dating from to the Byzantine era, recognized World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its splendid and unique mosaics famous all over the world. The most suggestive monuments are: Orthodox Baptistery, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the incredible architecture and mosaics of Church of San Vitale, wonderful example of paleochristian art (VI century), built by the Emperor Justinian, portrayed here by the Empress Theodora. Walking through the streets of the city, you can go to the tomb of Dante Alighieri died in Ravenna in 1321.
Enjoy a little free time in this lovely city.

DAY 5 - MODENA and FERRARI MUSEUM
  DAY 6 - BALSAMIC VINEGAR + PARMESAN TASTING and PARMA

After breakfast depart to Modena, its historic center is also included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO.
Piazza Grande is the heart of the city and community life over centuries. Overlooking the square there is the Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque art and the most important artistic monuments of Modena. It was built in the late 11th century by the architect Lanfranco, whose style influenced European Romanesque art in the following years. Beside the Cathedral there is Ghirlandina Tower, whose construction began at the same time of Cathedral but ended two centuries later. It was built using marble from the ruins of the ancient Roman city, when was called Mutina. Other points of interest are: the historical Teatro Comunale, now Teatro "Luciano Pavarotti", (dedicated to the singer after his death in 2007) and the majestic Ducal Palace, home of the d'Este court for more than 200 years, in Piazza Roma.
In the afternoon enjoy a visit to the Ferrari Museum at Maranello. Discover the the great Italian myth along the stages of its history, the evolution of the models, the races and awards.

Following breakfast, depart to Parma, a beautiful city famous for its prosciutto (ham), cheese, architecture, music and university.
Before starting a city tour, it's time to discover the culinary excellence of the area with a visit in two important companies of balsamic vinegar and parmesan cheese. First explore the factory and understand the production processes and then enjoy a rich tasting of the local products.
Now the tour begins with the visit of the Cathedral, a splendid example of Romanesque art in the dome with the fresco masterpiece by Correggio and the Baptistery, a unique jewel of medieval architect Benedict Antelami. Follow by a visit to the Palazzo Pilotta, precious trove of unique museums such as the Teatro Farnese, a unique example in the world of large wooden theater, built in 1618. For all lovers of the beauty the "Room of the Abbess" painted by Correggio around 1518 is a must see. The illusion, the play of light and shadow, the obvious reference to the classical world, never fail to enchant visitors.

DAY 7 - PARMA PROSCIUTTO (HAM) TASTING and PIACENZA

Your tour in this region rich in culture and tradition continues with another important food excellence tasting, “Prosciutto (ham) di Parma”. Arrive in a historic salami factory near Parma to discover how is produced the delicious ham famous worldwide and then enjoy a buffet tasting with possibility to directly buy local products.
After this tasting, depart to Piacenza, a town on the border with Lombardy that boasts a great number of historical palaces, often characterized by splendid gardens. The route through its historic center start from Piazza Cavalli, the heart of the city and symbol of the power of the Farnese dynasty. On the square there is the Gothic Palace or Town Hall, built in the late thirteenth century, which still retains its medieval forms.
But is Palazzo Farnese with its great size designed to strike the visitor. Now home to several museums including the Art Gallery and the Archaeological Museum.
The visit continues with the Cathedral of medieval foundation, a wonderful example of Romanesque padano, contemporary in many other cathedrals of Emilia, and then continues to the church of San Savino that it houses an extraordinary medieval mosaic floor with representations of the months and signs zodiac.
