DAY 2 - NAPLES and CAMPI FLEGREI

Arrival with intercontinental flight into Naples airport. Transfer to Hotel in Naples.
In the evening explore the city with a sightseeing tour through its highlights of the historical center, lauded as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site, (Cathedral of San Gennaro, Castel Nuovo, Piazza del Plebiscito, San Carlo Opera House). At sunset enjoy a panoramic view of Bay of Naples up Posillipo Hill.

Pizza was born here so taste this specialty in a typical restaurant and overnight.

After breakfast continue to discover Naples with a local guide, entry in the famous San Severo Chapel, a deconsecrated church full of masterpieces like Veiled Christ, renowned world over for the remarkable tissue and marble, and the enigmatic creations of Anatomical Machines, examples of the process of "human metallization" similar to the current process of plastination.
Then visit the National Archeological Museum that contains a large collection of Roman artifacts from Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum.
In the afternoon arrive in Campi Flegrei (Pozzuoli and Bacoli) a vast area that includes the hills of Naples and consists of a large volcanic caldera with a diameter of 12-15 km with about 24 craters not very high, small buildings and areas with volcanic fumaroles, hot springs and bradyseism.
Dinner and overnight in Naples.

After breakfast depart to Caserta to visit the famous Royal Palace. The Palace and its park, inserted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are treasures of truly incomparable splendor.
Commissioned by Charles III of Bourbon in the 1700s, Luigi Vanvitelli planned this palace, a triumph of the Italian Baroque and one of the most famous and important works by the Neapolitan architect.
In the afternoon it's time to see also the inside of the region Campania arriving in Sant'Agata dei Goti, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Here visit a historic winery and enjoy a delicious wine tasting accompanied by appetizers to taste the goodness of the local cuisine.
Dinner and Overnight in Naples.

After breakfast depart to Sorrento. This magnificent town on the Sorrentine Peninsula offers spectacular views of Vesuvius, the Isle of Capri and even Naples. It is also known the world over for its orange, lemon and olive trees, in fact in a homemade company enjoy a limoncello tasting: visit to a citrus garden and taste Sorrento lemon, different liquors, limoncello babà, citrus jam and lemon ice cream.
In the afternoon start a guided visit of Pompeii, the largest archaeological area in Europe. Discover the ruins of the Forum, the Thermal Baths, Vetti's House and the Lupanare brothel, all perfectly preserved thanks the volcanic ashes of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
Dinner and overnight in Sorrento.

After breakfast, explore ancient history at Herculaneum. Once a residential coastal town, Herculaneum was covered in volcanic mud when Vesuvius erupted so now you can to see the superbly preserved town descending with your guide for a tour of the ancient streets and buildings.
In the afternoon have an excursion up the majestic Mt. Vesuvius, the feared pride of Naples and the only active volcano in Europe. Accompanied by your vulcanologist guide, walk around the crater at 1,200 meters admiring the dense vegetation that lives on fruitful volcanic soil, a variety of lava rocks, and fumes rising out of the crater itself. From the summit admire the breathtaking view of the bay.
Dinner and Overnight in Sorrento.

This day is full dedicated to the incredible island of Capri. When you arrive with the hydrofoil, another driver with minivan take you on the city center where a local guide is ready to accompany you and explain all the beauties of this island. Then arrive to AnaCapri, the highest point of the island. Reach Mount Solaro from the chairlift and admire the views of the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvius, Sorrento. Visit the Villa San Michele, a magical place characterized by a Feng shui perfection, let yourself be seduced by its enchanting beauty.

(The visit to the Blue Grotto is on request, but in any case you can pay the tickets to enter in the cave only on site)

In the afternoon enjoy a free time to go shopping, famous are custom-made sandal and limoncello. Then return in the main center of Piazza Umberto, or better known as “La Piazzetta”, here you can see the true lifestyle of Capri. In the end, arrive to Garden of Augustus, a beautiful garden with views of Faraglioni, the three rocks which rise from the Southern Sea, and celebrity homes such as Giorgio Armani. At Marina Grande take the hydrofoil to came back at Sorrento.
Dinner And Overnight in Sorrento.

In the morning it's time to discover another Campania's specialty: buffalo mozzarella cheese. In one of the oldest cheese factory on the Sorrentine peninsula enjoy a practical demonstration, try to create your own mozzarella and taste 9 different cheeses (mozzarella, provolone, caciocavallo, caciotta etc).
Then depart to the wonderful Amalfi Coast. This famous tourist destination is a stretch of coastline on the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula and it is characterized by amazing scenery and picturesque villages.
The main you explore:
Positano with its enchanting town center of delightful pastel-hued houses
Amalfi with its typically Mediterranean architecture, made up of lanes and characteristic white houses
Ravello, visit the beautiful Villa Cimbrone and its gardens disseminated of statues, little temples, epigraphs, fountains and caves.

Add a extra day to explore the others two islands near Naples (Ischia and Procida) or to visit the archeological site of Paestum near Salerno. (Services on request can be add to the package but depending on availability and it incurs an extra charge)
